West and central african states will gather in lomé to address ammunition management challenges lomé, 4 -5 september 2024 (office for disarmament affairs)

In 2023, UN Member States adopted the Global Framework on Ammunition, a landmark initiative to ensure the through-life safety and security of ammunition worldwide.This comprehensive framework seeks to prevent diversion, illicit trafficking, and unplanned explosions -threats that endanger global peace and security.

In support of this effort,the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs and its Regional Center for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC) are organizing a regional meeting for West and Central Africa in Lomé ,Togo, from 4-5 September 2024.This meeting will :

• Promote the implementation of the Global Framework.
• Facilitate exchanges on best practices
• Identify region-specific opportunities and challenges to translating political commitments into concrete actions.
