On 21 October 2021, UNREC pre-recorded statement to the 1st Committee was delivered at the special session on the Regional Centres. Due to IT issues, UNREC could not participate in the live Q&A session but was able to follow part of the live webcast on the UN WebTV.

On 21 to 22 October 2021, UNREC attended the World Girls’ Summit organized by Plan International as part of the International Day of the Girl celebrated each 11 October and the global campaign “Equality for Girls” aimed at creating, catalysing and energizing a global movement for girls’ rights through 3 main demands: Equal Power, Equal Freedom and Equal Representation for Girls. A video message of the High Representative  was delivered to the plenary while UNREC Director participated in the panel entitled “Equality in Crises Situation”.

On 20 October 2021, UNREC organized a meeting with the Parliamentary Forum on SALW to discuss possible collaboration, including reciprocal support for project proposals such as for UNSCAR.

On 15 October 2021, FRS requested assistance from UNREC for the organization of a workshop on 23 November in the DRC, which is entitled “ Le HCoC : opportunités et défis pour la République démocratique du Congo”.

On 13 October 2021, UNREC took part in a webinar on “Exploring the role of the Hague Code of Conduct (HCoC) and other CBMs in the field of missiles”, organized by the Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique (FRS).

On 7 and 22 October 2021,  UNREC and UNODA Vienna Office met to discuss joint application for funding in the 2021 UNSCAR Call for Proposals. A draft proposal and a draft partnership agreement between the two UNODA offices were finalized. Related communications to beneficiary Member States have been sent. Finally, the Vienna Office finally decided to submit the proposal alone.

On 5 and 18 October 2021, UNREC held virtual meetings with CAB, AMAT and GICHD with respect to UNODA response to a request for technical assistance from the Republic of Togo for the assessment and disposal of certain special ammunition.

On 30 September 2021, UNREC participated in a virtual consultation on WAM and IED in the Sahel, coordinated by UNMAS. The current state of play as regards WAM and IEDs in the Sahel as well as options to support to region address these burning issues were discussed.
