On 23 November 2021, UNREC held discussions with the Consultant of UNIDIR, Mr. Mohamed Lamine Coulibaly to prepare for the joint WAM baseline assessment mission in Togo to be conducted in Lomé from 30 November to 3 December 2021 by the Economic Community of West-African States (ECOWAS) with technical support from UNIDIR, UNREC, AMAT and MAG.
UNREC participated in the workshop organised by the Fondation pour la Recherche Strategique on the Hague Code of Conduct on Weapons of Mass Destruction.

On 23 November 2021, UNREC participated in the workshop organised by the Fondation pour la Recherche Strategique on the Hague Code of Conduct on Weapons of Mass Destruction. UNREC provided a general presentation of its work on SALW control in the region, as well on the support provided by the RIODB to the UNSC Resolution 1540 Committee for the implementation of initiatives to counter the proliferation of WMD in Africa.

On 19 November 2021, UNREC sent its presentation on “Initiatives on Disarmament and Arms Control in the ECOWAS Region” to the Annual Coordination Meeting of National Commissions on Small Arms, organized by the ECOWAS Commission in Accra, Ghana, from 17 – 19 November 2021.

On 18 November 2021, UNREC participated in the CRSV MARA Working Group monthly meeting organised by the Women’s Protection Adviser of MINUSMA. UNREC exchanged with the DPO’s CRSV Team in the Policy and Best Practices Service of DPET on the new policy for preventing and responding to CRSV in field missions. UNREC debriefed on its work with the gender and SALW control project in CAR and encouraged participants to consider the links between small arms proliferation and misuse and CRSV.
