Adoption of Central African Convention on the control of small arms and light weapons
From 26 to 30 April 2010, UNREC organized in Kinshasa, DRC, under the supervision of the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, the 30th Ministerial meeting of UNSAC.  
The 11 Member States of UNSAC attended the meeting. The main output of the meeting was the adoption of the “Central Africa Convention for the Control of SALW, their Ammunition, Parts and Components that can be used for their Manufacture, Repair or Assembly” or “Kinshasa Convention”.

Regional meeting for Central African States on the PoA
In preparation of the BMS-4 to be held in New York, USA, from 14 to 18 June 2010, UNODA/UNREC in collaboration with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, organized a regional meeting for Central African States. The meeting was held from 24 to 25 April 2010 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Upon the request of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, and with financial support of the Government of Austria, UNREC in cooperation with the Regional Centre for Small Arms (RECSA) and the Tanzania Police Force organized a 5 days workshop to review the existing draft bill and draft regulations on small arms and light weapons.

UNREC held from 12 to 13 March, 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya, a second independent expert workshop on the review of the legal instrument of the control in central Africa of small arms, their ammunitions and all equipment that might be used in their manufacture. The UN Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa (UNSAC) mandated UNREC to elaborate the draft of the legal instrument.

Handover Ceremony of the UNREC Standardized Electronic Register of Brokers software to Kenya
The United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC) formally handed over the Standardized Electronic Register of Brokers software to the Kenyan Government on 03 March 2010. The ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel, in Nairobi, Kenya and was presided by the Kenyan Minister
of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security, H.E. Professor George Saitoti, EGH, M.P.
