REGIONAL WORKSHOP FOR WESTERN AFRICAN STATES ON TRANSPARENCY IN ARMAMENTS 
      
     From 9 to 10 June 2009 in Dakar, Senegal, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) held a “Regional workshop for Western African States on Transparency in Armaments”, which was hosted by its Conventional Arms Branch (CAB) and its Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC). The seminar brought together some thirty senior officials from Ministries of Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs of 13 ECOWAS member states as well as international experts from South Africa, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the ECOWAS Commission and the United Nations.

UNREC and IANSA-Togo

UNREC and IANSA-Togo jointly celebrate the Global Week of Action against Gun Violence 
Lomé, 17 June 2009- UNREC and IANSA-Togo jointly held a press conference to mark the Global Week of Action against Gun Violence in Togo. This press conference was attended by dozens of journalists and several members of the civil society. Speakers at this information sharing gathering were UNREC’s Director, the President of the national chapter of IANSA (RASALT) and the Chairperson of the Togolese National Commission on small arms.
